London: Cape, 1963. An uncorrected proof copy published by Cape in 1963. Light edgewear and some creasing to the corners of the first twenty pages, spine a little sunned, but a near fine copy. The Paul Davis-designed dust wrapper is uncut, with square corners (the published book has square corners) and the publication date is stamped at the foot of the front flap. The proof book contains several differences to the hardback, mostly of a typographical nature; some ommissions appear on the copyright page, the final leaf of the text differs and there are no picture credits printed at the rear. A scarce Fleming proof - only 175 copies printed. Serialised in The Sunday Times (1959-60) and all collected here for the time in book form. Excessively rare.
