A solid, well-preserved copy of the September 1899 1st edition. Tight and VG in its Denslow-illustrated beige boards, with light offsetting and scuffing at the panels. One small, thin crease running vertically as well from the rear panel's top-edge. Internally, the wonderful Denslow plates have all held up beautifully and boast their deep, rich colors. Very light creasing and just a touch of soiling along a number of bottom page edges, otherwise clean and sharp. No restoration work has been done on this copy, all the parts are original. Quarto, an unqualified success from the Baum-Denslow tandem, paving the way for their next project, a minor effort that some in the children's field may know, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".
