April 1896-April 1897 13 monthly parts in original paper wrappers, with original binding case designed by Edmund H. New as supplied to subscribers. 1st edition thus. Very rare in this original unbound form, as issued. Copious b/w illustrations by Edmund H. New. The wrappers include inside the front panel the Anglers Calendar for the relevant month. The back panels carry publisher s advertisements. A printed note inside the rear wrapper of Part X explains: With Part XI the end of the book itself has been reached. Mr Le Gallienne s Introduction and Notes extend to a much greater length than he anticipated, and since the first the first planning of the book the Publisher has decided to add Photogravure Portraits of not Walton and Cotton. That of Walton has been reproduced direct from the celebrated original in the National Collection, while that of Cotton is, by permission of Mr Stapleton Martin, now reproduced, for the first time, from the original in his possession. It has, in consequence, been impossible to avoid the addition of a Thirteenth Part. In accordance with the requests of many Subscribers, the Anglers Calendar, much augmented, will be reprinted and included in the last part. Condition: Very good. All parts complete , and with wrapper. Part IX is detached from the wrapper but otherwise complete. Part XI is starting to pull away from the wrapper. Part XII includes the Walton portrait, with loose tissue guard, the appendix and Anglers Calendar. Rear panel of the wrapper creased. Part XIII includes the Cotton portrait, with loose tissue guard, title page, contents pages, list of illustrations, introduction.
