Rare first state dust wrapper with "First Edition" stated at front flap. Oatmeal colored full cloth pictorial boards, light shelf wear. Deckled pages very good, clean; no writing. Moderate fox at front endpapers, pastedown; lightly to exterior text block. Tan pictorial endpapers with sheet music in reddish-brown to old plantation melody "Battle Hymn of the Republic" by Julia Ward Howe. Light brown top-stain. Bind fine, square; hinges intact. Stated "First Edition" at lower front flap corner; first editions are often married to a later printing wrapper that has been clipped. Original first printing dust wrapper, moderate edge wear, rub; unclipped 2.75, protected in new clear sleeve. Light, very old ring and apparent pull or similar to cover's sitting boy with hair appearing longer with this anomolous effect.…
