London: Longmans, Green and Company, 1886. Hardcover. VG. 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 141 pages. Very Good. The first English edition, first issue in wrappers, with the year at the bottom corrected from 1885 to 1886. (viii), 141, (3) pp; including half title and one page of ads at the rear. Publisher's stiff tan wrappers, printed in blue and red, small contemporary bookseller's sticker at bottom. Wrappers slightly worn, spine worn but sound, all edges trimmed. Front wrapper and first several leaves slightly creased, kept in a cloth folding case. Originally intended for a December 1885 release, but held back to not get lost in the Christmas numbers and eventually released on the 9th January 1886, preceded by the Charles Scribner's first US edition by 4 days. A well preserved first English edition in wrappers.
