This 1963 volume is SIGNED with a drawing by the author. It is the premier title by Sendak who wrote many well known children's books. A highly collectible author. This book is an early printing with a 1963 publication date and a price on the front flap of the jacket of $3.79. The book is in fine condition with clean interior pages and a bright pictorial cover showing a wild thing sleeping near a small boat. The dust jacket is very good plus with a closed tear on the jacket back (1 inch) and a corner with minor wear. A wonderful copy! Pictures available upon request.

Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short in 1973 (with an updated version in 1988), a 1980 opera, and a live-action 2009 feature-film adaptation. The book tells the story of Max, a young boy who dresses up as a wolf and uses his imagination to travel to a wild forest where he meets creatures called Wild Things.
