A first edition, first printing published by Hamish Hamilton in 1952. A near fine book with one inscription to the front endpaper. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some browning to the spine. A little chipping to the spine tips and some rubbing and creasing to the edges. Neat closed tear to the head of the front panel. The story revolves around a pig named Wilbur who forms a close friendship with a clever spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur faces the threat of being slaughtered, Charlotte uses her web-spinning abilities to write messages that make Wilbur famous and ultimately save his life. The novel explores themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the cycle of life. "Charlotte's Web" has been adapted into various films and animated versions. The most notable adaptation is the 2006 live-action/CGI film, directed by Gary Winick, featuring the voices of Dakota Fanning and Julia Roberts as Charlotte.
