Complete in ten volumes. Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (15 August 1771 21 September 1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright, and poet. Fascinated by the oral traditions of the Scottish Borders since childhood, Scott was an obsessive collector of stories. The Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border was first published as a three-volume collection in 1802-1803, and was the first indication of his life-long interest in Scottish history. In decorative full calf bindings. Externally, generally very smart, lightly rubbed in places. Slight splitting to some of the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Some scattered light foxing particularly to the titlepages. Slight tidemarks to the lower edge of some of the pages of Volume IX. Volume IX has an ink signature to the armorial bookplate. Very Good.
