Provenance: Presentation inscription on the front free-endpaper from Maude Reid to her daughter, Heather, dated 1909; thence by descent. Maude Reid was the wife of Walter Montgomerie Neilson Reid, a son of James Reid of Auchterarder, owner of the leading locomotive building firm Neilson, Reid, & Co. of Glasgow and benefactor to various charitable interests in that city.
