Description

First Edition, First Printing, SIGNED BY STEADMAN WITH A FULL PAGE ORIGINAL DRAWING OF HUNTER THOMPSON AS "THE GOOD DOCTOR". Near fine book with a near fine dust jacket. Signed with a spectacular full page drawing by Ralph Steadman of Hunter Thompson as "The Good Doctor". Thompson was an American journalist and author, and the founder of the gonzo journalism movement, a style of writing that blurs distinctions between fiction and nonfiction. The book is equally famous for the highly detailed crazed illustrations by Ralph Steadman. This stunning example has an extremely rare full page original drawing by Steadman. The book is in beautiful condition, internally appearing crisp and unread. The book has grey paper boards with black quarter cloth, with bright unfaded silver titles to the spine. The end papers are clean with no owner names, no inscriptions, and no book plates. The stunning, boldly signed Steadman art is rendered in red ink in the classic Steadman spot style, and located on the first blank page of the book. The internal pages are clean, bright and flat with No marks, No writing, No stains, No smudges, No bent pages and No foxing. Beautiful clean, crisp book internally appearing as unread. Please see detailed images. The original dust jacket is in near fine condition with very slight nicking to the spine tips and a touch of creasing to the front inner flap. Otherwise, the jacket has strong vibrant colors with no edgewear, no rips, no chips, no tears, no rubbing, no fading, and no foxing. The jacket is NOT price-clipped and has a stated price of $5.95. The jacket is now protected in a new clear removable archival cover. Please see detailed images. A stunning one-of-a-kind example of this scarce title! An important copy with a large original Ralph Steadman drawing. Steadman has refused to sell his original art, so any original sketches by him are extremely rare. ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our ABE store for other Original Art and landmark titles.

About Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the best chronicle of drug-soaked, addle-brained, rollicking good times ever committed to the printed page. It is also the tale of a long weekend road trip that has gone down in the annals of American pop culture as one of the strangest journeys ever undertaken.

Identifying the First Edition of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

A possible indicator for identifying a first edition, first printing, is the absence of additional printings listed on the copyright page, sometimes noted by a number line with '1' present.
