Bookplate of George Granville Leveson II, Earl Gower [1786-1861], and member of the Order of the Garter, Britain's 3rd highest royal / military honour. Light foxing, gilt device of Order of Garter on upper font boards. Boards a bit scuffed however a near fine binding. The first and second volume cover Milton's Paradise Lost with criticism and annotations from various authors. Volume three contains Paradise Regain'd, with Milton's other minor poems. Paradise Lost is an epic poem in blank verse by the 17th-century English poet John Milton. The first version, published in 1667, consisted of ten books with over ten thousand lines of verse.
