The pictorial jacket has clipped corners and with publisher's correct first issue printed code on lower front flap ("40-80/ 1163"). The front flap of dust jacket prints two reviews and rear flap is headed "Winner of the 1964 Caldecott Award", both issue points which indicate a second issue dust jacket. Also has "The Caldecott Medal" gold foil label on front panel (second issue). Owner's ink name on front flyleaf else a fine, bright copy in second issue dust jacket, with one short tear, and one tiny nick, else the jacket is fresh and bright. Internally very good. The binding is solid . In protective cover.

Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short in 1973 (with an updated version in 1988), a 1980 opera, and a live-action 2009 feature-film adaptation. The book tells the story of Max, a young boy who dresses up as a wolf and uses his imagination to travel to a wild forest where he meets creatures called Wild Things.
