Downgrade to "Very Good+" due to front gutter glue staining common to most copies. Rubbed corners and red top spray fade. Dust jacket meets all points but downgraded to "Very Good" due to 1/2 inch loss of paper top rear spine and few closed tears at edges. Red fade on spine. For Whom the Bell Tolls is a novel by Ernest Hemingway published in 1940. It tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American in the International Brigades attached to a republican guerrilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. As a dynamiter, he is assigned to blow up a bridge during an attack on the city of Segovia.
