London Richard Bentley & Son, 1877-9. Complete in 5 volumes. Hardback Size approx 7.5 x 5 inches. Halfbound morocco leather to spines and corners and marbled paper to boards. Fine bindings by “Mudie.” Marbled endpapers and page edges. Raised banding to spines, with gilt decrations and gilt lettering. In good conditions. Spines faded, some rubbing to boards, rubbing to edges, some surface rubbing/chips to leather on corners and top ends of spines, bump to front of Northanger Abbey. Slight chips to top end of spine on Emma. Blank prelims darkened and foxed. Binders stamps “Mudie” to verso sides of endpapers. Moderate darkening and foxing to frontis plates, all tissue guarded, stains to bottom corners of frontis plates in Emma and Mansfield Park. Neat inscriptions to title pages “Edith Bowman, from her Mother, May 1882.” and later “Barbara Paget Sender 1944.” Foxing to title pages. Some occasional spots to inside pages, bindings tight and sound. Else a very good set.…
