Full numberline 1-9 the same format as the Macmillan first edition, but bound in original green cloth, lettering to spine in gilt, illustration to front cover in silver surrounding mounted colour illustration, vignette to rear cover in gilt, illustrated endpapers. Housed in the original pictorial slipcase. Colour illustrations throughout by Axel Scheffler. Extremities of slipcase slightly rubbed with a little lifting. 'The Gruffalo's Child': A very good book. In very good slip case. Scarce pair.

The Gruffalo is a children's book by writer and playwright Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler. It tells the story of a mouse taking a walk in the forest and featuring encounters with several dangerous animals, depicted humorously and with rhyme.
