Hemingway's first novel, printed in an edition of only 1250 copies, Hemingway was dismayed by the book's lack of commercial success and blamed the publisher's poor promotion and use of blurbs by more famous writers.

The Torrents of Spring is a novel by Ernest Hemingway written in 1925 about a young man's disillusionment with love. It satirizes the over-romanticized literature of the time and is a parody of Sherwood Anderson's 'Dark Laughter'.
