First edition, first issue with Siegfried Sassoon's poem (removed from subsequent printings) on page 341-343 and a brief passage about a mother trying to contact her dead son on page 290. About the cleanest copy we have seen: unsoiled salmon cloth covers, the faintest of toning to the perimeters of leaves, no names inscriptions or bookplates, with a San Francisco book store ticket and importers stamp dated 11/29/29 on rear pastedown. Dustjacket is unclipped; the spine is tanned, with some shallow chipping at spine head and foot. A collectible copy.
