New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1931. Second Edition. Near Fine/Very Good. Second edition, third binding. Signed by Wallace Stevens on the front blank and inscribed, "The basis of poetry is response" and is dated "Sept. 14, 1943." Bound in publisher's cloth-backed pale blue boards with paper spine label. Near Fine with light toning to edges and contents. Bookseller's ticket at rear pastedown. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with tanning to spine panel, chip in the upper left corner of the front panel, and mending tissue repairs to splits at verso. This edition contains fourteen new poems, while dropping three from the original edition. The complete printing of the second edition consisted of 1,500 copies, which were bound over a period of thirteen years. Signatures, let alone inscriptions, from the poet are quite scarce.
