Description

First UK Edition in First Issue dustwrapper. Publisher's smooth yellow cloth front and spine stamped in red. Boards exceptionally bright and clean with very minor foxing to the edges of the front and back boards. No inscriptions. Foxing to the page block edges and to the early/late pages of the book. Overall a VG++ copy. In the VERY RARE dustwrapper priced 7s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The VG++ dustwrapper has no wear, tears or pieces missing. However, it is apparent that the fugitive red spine must have faded during its life as a former owner has had the red portions of the spine historically, neatly re-coloured (to a very high standard) to a salmon-pink by a skilled conservator. The British First Edition of "Farewell My Lovely" is of legendary scarcity. This copy has resided in a private collection for many years and is entirely "fresh to market". I am not aware of any other copy in dustwrapper being offered for sale in recent years. It is GENUINELY RARE unlike its US counterpart. Bruccoli: A.2.2.a. NB: the dustwrapper for this title is NOT shown in Bruccoli which affirms my belief of just how rare it is in dustwrapper. Photographs/scans available upon request.
