A reflection of the close working relationship between Dufy and Apollinaire First Dufy edition, number 113 of 380 copies printed on Montgolfier d'Annonay paper from a total edition of 450. "Dufy again paid tribute to Apollinaire [...] by illustrating one of his major pieces of prose fiction. Le Poète Assassiné was originally a book of short stories which took its title from its opening novella. Dufy had attended the launch party for the book organized by Paul Dermée and Juan Gris, at the Palais d'Orléans in Montparnasse on New Year's Eve 1916.
