New York: MacMillan Company, 1936. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good+ in a Very Good+ dust jacket. First issue with "Published May 1936" on copyright page in first issue jacket with rear panel headed "Macmillan Spring Novels" listing Gone with The Wind as the second title in the second column. Binding tight and square. Original full-bound cloth boards present, in exceptional condition for their age, with slight wear to corners as shown. Minimal wear present to boards and text block, with some wear evident to the original dust jacket, with a repaired tears on both the front and back covers, as well as some chipping losses at spine corners, and wear to the edges at bottom and top. Clipped (as is typical) at the top corner, with original price of $3 not clipped at the bottom left. Gone with the Wind is a novel by American writer Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County and Atlanta, both in Georgia, during the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era. It depicts the struggles of young Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to come out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea.
