"Red Harvest" by Dashiell Hammett. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1929. First edition, first printing. Publisher's pictorial red cloth stamped in yellow and black; later issue dust jacket with advertisements for The Dain Curse and The Maltese Falcon and a short bio of the author. Corners bumped, minor edgewear, spine sunned, head and foot of spine pushed, somewhat rubbed and soiled. Cream endpapers, top edge trimmed and stained green, other edges rough-trimmed; light scattered soiling, bookseller's ticket to the rear pastedown. Internally generally clean and tight; light scattered soiling, text block edges toned with minor soiling and wear. Dust jacket unclipped ($2.50); heavy edgewear with losses to head and foot of spine, folds, and corners, spine sunned, toned, rubbed and somewhat soiled, wear reinforced on verso with cellotape. Very good book in rare dustwrapper.
