First Edition, First Issue [Smiley, 001a]. Octavo (8vo). 220pp. Bound in publisher's cloth boards with gilt titling and blind-stamped seal on the front board. NEAR FINE. Shows just a hint of shelf rubbing along the edges and corners, endpapers very lightly toned, former owner name neatly on the endpaper, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. An excellently maintained example of Forester's first book. As pictured.
