Marbled paper-covered boards w/leather spine & corner covers are quite worn, front panel is separate from binding, parts of marbling are missing, as well as parts of the upper end of spine, rubbing to edges. The portrait frontispiece is missing from vol 1, the half title & title pages of vol,2 are missing. Pages are well-bound, except vol1 title page, they are clean w/a faint tanning to margins, except for penciled listing of flaws on front endpaper & very occasional foxing. a good candidate for rebinding.
