Vol. 1 (1851): xv, [1], 413 pp; errata slip tipped in at rear; 21 plates (drawn by the author), including four in color; Vol. 2 (1853): vi, [2], 394 pp; 20 plates, including two in color; Vol. 3 (1853): [2], 362 pp; 12 plates (including one in color). All plates are present and where called for. 4to, t.e.g., gilt title; recently professionally recased in evergreen Brillianta cloth over boards, with new endpapers and headbands. Short closed tears to rear blanks of vol. 1 (one blank a little chipped) and small chip to front blank; some mild offsetting from some of the plates onto facing pages in Vol. 3; interior pages are lightly age-toned, as usual but generally near fine to fine. All volumes are first editions. One of Ruskin's most important treatises on architecture that grew out of his careful and detailed exploration of architectural monuments. Overall, a fine and attractive set.
