First edition, first impression. Just over a year after the first book in the Harry Potter series was published, Bloomsbury released Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on 2 July 1998. The print-run was confirmed by the publisher, after consultation with the printer, as only 706 copies. However, other sources suggest that 10,150 copies were released to an expectant public in the UK.
Harry Potter was, as yet, unavailable in the US. Errington notes that a dispute between the American publishers and Amazon was "ignited" when "copies of the book were sent from Amazon in the UK to the US".
Octavo. Original matt laminated printed boards, spine and front cover lettered in white, green, blue, black, and red. With dust jacket.
Spine ends gently bumped, one corner slightly rubbed; light creasing to ends of unclipped dust jacket: a near-fine copy in a very good jacket.
