IMPORTANT PRESENTATION COPY, signed and inscribed by E.M. Forster to 'Alec Randall from E.M. Forster Nov. 30, 1924.' Sir Alec Randall was an English diplomat (later Ambassador to Denmark, auhtor of 'Vatican Assignment', etc. ) and close friend of Forster's for decades. Forster's 1932 visit to Romania, where Randall was stationed, was at the latter's invitation. Quite a number of Forster's letters to Randall are held at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. First Knopf edition from 1923, noting 'First Published Elsewhere' on copyright page. This edition followed the 1911 Putnam's first American printing. Original orange cloth stamped in black (some mnor wear to cloth; no jacket).
