First American edition, first printing of Forester's tale of African adventure, basis for the 1951 film of the same name directed by John Huston and starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1935. Binding is lightly shaken with a minor lean, still sound with no cracking. Bump to front corner, shelfwear to extremities. Owner's bookplate to front pastedown, small spot of residue to rear endpaper, else internally clean with a few minor instances of thumb soiling. The unclipped dust jacket shows soiling, a couple closed tears and shelfwear with chipping at the joints and to spine crown. Presents well in archival mylar, scarce with the original jacket.
