Description

1860 2nd edition Revised and Enlarged. [Two years after the 1858 first edition.] Rare survivor. Original red cloth, gilt titles on black panel to spine, red speckled edges. B/w diagrammatic illustrations throughout. The author states in the Preface: In preparing a Second Edition of my Descriptive and Surgical Anatomy, I trust that I have corrected any inaccuracies contained in the previous one; every page has been carefully revised; much additional matter has been added to the text; and several new Illustrations, executed with great care and fidelity by Dr Westmacott, have been inserted. Condition: Good. Wear to cloth and to edges. Small hole to front edge of spine, another to front board. Inscription to ffep. Title and dedication pages with some foxing. Other pages only lightly toned. Between pp369-453 some of the diagrams have been partially and neatly coloured, in order to highlight certain elements. On p381 is an additional red pencil mark next to diagram. Small closed tear to top edges in various places, not affecting text. p622 two-inch closed tear repaired with tape. Ink blot to fore-edge between pp670-712, with some seepage on to page margins. Mesh showing between last two leaves of Index with some tearing to the paper at gutter. Binding holding firm. Size: 10x6.5in / 25x16cm. 784pp. Weight: 1.5kg. Heavy book, may require extra postage for overseas.
