London: Bradbury & Evans, 1854. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. pp: [1-3] 4-352. Full red leather boards, gilt trim, raised bands, gilt decoration, two green title pieces with gilt lettering. The novel first appeared in Dickens' journal 'Household Words' as twenty weekly installments from the 1st of April, 1854. It was published in book form in August, 1854. This was one of only two of Dickens' novels that appeared without illustrations. It is also the only novel with no scenes in London. This is a very good, or somewhat better, copy of the first edition.
