The title of chapter one reads: 'Please look after this bear'. First published in 1958, this is the first of the books recounting the adventures of one of the world's most famous bears. Neat inscription reads: 'Jan from Freddy.11.4.76' then inscribed by Michael Bond: 'To Jan, with all good wishes, Michael Bond. 5th April 1976.' A fine, tight, clean copy in very good plus, very slightly creased and rubbed, bright, clean dustwrapper which has a very short closed tear to the base of the front panel. Inscribed copies of 'A Bear called Paddington' are very scarce indeed.
