Fourth edition of this cornerstone text in British poetry, an attractive copy in contemporary morocco. Largely based on the 1802 third edition, it is the last of the early lifetime editions and the final edition to include contributions by Coleridge. Wise, in his bibliography of Wordsworth, places a "high bibliographical value upon all four editions of the Lyrical Ballads". This edition includes Wordsworth's Preface from the 1800 edition, dubbed "the manifesto of the Romantic Movement". Two vols, duodecimo (154 x 100 mm). Contemporary green half morocco, marbled sides, spine gilt in compartments. Light rubbing to spine ends and tips, excellent condition. Originally published in 1798 in collaboration with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, 'Lyrical Ballads' is regarded as a seminal work in the English Romantic movement.
