Early American edition of Thomas Jefferson's most important book published during his lifetime and considered one of America's first permanent literary and intellectual landmarks. The work appears to have its origins in a request from the French delegation in Philadelphia looking for information on Virginia. This edition includes the appendix on the murder of Logan's family. Lacks the frontispiece portrait and the large engraved folding map of Virginia.
