London: Longman, et al., 1816. 4th Edition. Very Good. Fore-edge paintings. Two matching volumes in straight grain morocco with decorative gilded borders on each cover. Spines have 4 thick raised bands with title lable, volume label, and 3 gilded decorative panels. Rubbing to corners and edges with some light fraying. Internally very clean. Each volume has a fore-edge painting along the long edge. Volume 1's fore-edge painting depicts the northwest corner of the Bank of England from Lothbury (1820's). Volume 2's fore-edge painting depicts the Vauxhall Gardens, (1750). Artist unknown. Edges also gilded. Interiors are near fine. Former owner bookplate inside front covers, Ethel Priscilla Grenfell.
