Available is a real rarity - a TRUE 1st ed/1st prtg/1st state dust jacket of THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS by the late great ROBERT A. HEINLEIN. Published in 1966 by Putnam, this is an ex-library copy. Only indications of it being an ex-library book are: a small stamp on title page and a card pocket affixed to rear endpaper. Else, book is VERY GOOD+ in burnt orange cloth covered boards w/ gold gilt titles. Has a very light looseness to spine along w/ a bit of soiling along spine. There are tape shadows to both front and rear endpapers. Else very nice and clean. The real key is the first issue dust jacket - it is bright and clean w/ no rips, tears, etc. There is some very light crackling to black front panel along folds, else very nice. Original price of $5.95 intact, indicating a TRUE 1st state jacket. Overall, a very representative copy of this scarce classic. With non ex-library copies costing in the $3-5000.00 range, this can certainly can be an excellent shelf filler until you win the lottery to afford a higher end copy.
