Description

First edition. 8vo. Publisher's original oatmeal cloth, red lettered upon the spine, a couple of light grubby marks else a clean square copy, top edge of text block in red, original endpapers, clean and tight, though the tightness suggests that the book has possibly been recased at some point, in spite of this a very handsome example, in the scarce original dust wrapper by Humphrey Spender, this with some chips to the extremities, surface creases and tape repairs underneath, still just about good and will come presented in a protective plastic sleeve. Isherwood's evocative classic about the last days of Weimar Germany; further inquiries/photograph requests welcome.

About Sally Bowles

Sally Bowles is a novella by Christopher Isherwood, originally published in 1937 as part of the novel 'Goodbye to Berlin,' which is part of The Berlin Stories collection. The character of Sally Bowles, a young English singer in Berlin's Weimar Republic, became iconic, especially after the novella's adaptation into the musical 'Cabaret.'
