London: Cape, 1964. An uncorrected proof copy published by Cape in 1964. The usual rubbing and creasing to edges, but internally clean. Perhaps around 500 copies were printed with the majority not surviving. The proof copy features numerous typographical (rather than textual) mistakes which were corrected in the published book, notably the preface is missing, the verso of the half title has the erroneous title 'On Her Mjsty's Scrt Srvic[]' listed, the copyright page omits both the publisher's address and the paper maker and binder's credit, the contents page does not have italicised subtitles to parts I and II, the chapter 'Magic 44' appears in square caps, the 'author's note' leaf is an extra, and the final leaf is numbered 256. Rare.

In 'You Only Live Twice,' James Bond is devastated by the death of his wife and goes to Japan on what seems a diplomatic mission. He becomes involved with the mysterious 'Tiger' Tanaka and his plot to disrupt the Soviet intelligence network in Japan. Bond's revenge takes him on a dangerous quest after his nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
