London: Day & Son, Lithographers to the Queen, 1855. First Quarto edition. Full Leather. Very Good. Six parts bound into 3 books. 29.5 x 21.5 cm. Quarto. Bound in full black leather, gilt design, lettering, and foredges. Illustrated with 250 numbered lithographs, including 2 maps, some colored by David Roberts after lithographs by Louis Haghe. Vols I-II: Plates 1 - 87, Vol. III - IV: Plates 88-168, Vol. V-VI: Plates 169-250. Rubbing to the edges of the boards. Plates 199 and 200 have the bottom ~ 1 cm trimmed off, this does not effect the image. New endpapers. Foxing throughout. This is the quarto edition done after the very scarce elephant folio original, with the plates reduced photographically.
