First impression. 8vo. Pp vii + 463 with 4pp publishers' catalogue, dated Autumn 1915, at the rear. Original dark blue-green cloth boards stamped in gilt on the spine and blind stamped on the upper panel. A clean, unmarked and tightly bound copy without dust jacket. The first edition consisted of 2500 copies, of which the majority were withdrawn and destroyed because the book was deemed by magistrates to be obscene. Roberts A7. Printed entry from a Sotheby's catalogue from 1959 laid-in. Just a touch of spotting to the prelims otherwise a very nice copy in clean, unrubbed cloth with bright stamping.
