Description

McCall Corporation, May 1954. FIRST US APPEARANCE. Scarce American abridged publication of the second James Bond novel, appearing here nearly a whole year before the American book-form edition, and just one month after the UK Cape edition. This story can be found on pp88-128, printed in double columns. There are two exclusive illustrations, both in colour; the frontispiece on p.88 and the dramatic cover painting. Magazine format in illustrated paper wraps, originally priced at 25 cents. Cheap paper toned, some minor wear otherwise a particularly bright example. Fine An extremely elusive periodical printing of a James Bond novel- not mentioned by the previous bibliographers Iain Campbell, Otto Penzler and Biondi/ Pickard. A major rarity and a highspot of any serious Ian Fleming/James Bond collection.

About Live and Let Die

Live and Let Die is the second novel in Ian Fleming's James Bond series of stories, and is set in London, the US and Jamaica. It was first published in the UK by Jonathan Cape on 5 April 1954. In the novel, Bond must defeat a dangerous drug lord with plans to finance Soviet espionage in America. The story was developed during Fleming's second stay in Jamaica, where he had extensive knowledge of the local scenery, wildlife, and underworld.
