First Rackham trade edition, first impression; 4to; 50 tipped in colour plates by Arthur Rackham, captioned tissue guards, small contemporary gift inscription to front free endpaper, spotting to prelims and margins of text block, heavier to half-title; publisher's russet cloth, gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, gilt illustration to upper cover, slight rubbing to corners and extremities, spine ends bumped, else very good. Rackham's illustrations capture so succinctly the ethereal atmosphere of the story, with the still recognisable Kensington Gardens poignantly rendered, together with period charm.
