Description

This book is in good condition. There is an inscription in pencil the front, and no bookplates or markings of any other kind. There is some rubbing to the outside boards. This book contains all 50 of Rackham's original tipped-in color plates, with none missing, removed, or loose. They are all in excellent condition and have intact tissue guards which have the illustration's titles printed on them. There is some light foxing. There is some slight bowing to the boards. This is the 1912 Deluxe edition issued in vellum which features a new frontspiece and 7 additional black and white illustrations. It is the first edition of this book to have the illustrations interspersed throughout the text, as opposed to being gathered together in the rear of the book. These early Rackham's are often split up and sold separately for their beautiful prints. A rare find complete with many beautiful illustrations.

About Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens

Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens is one of J.M. Barrie's works that features the character Peter Pan, offering a backstory to the beloved 'boy who wouldn't grow up.' Originally part of Barrie's book 'The Little White Bird' (1902), these chapters were later republished as a stand-alone story detailing Peter's adventures in London's famous Kensington Gardens. It's a tale of fantasy that explores themes of childhood innocence and escapism.
