First Edition. 253 pages. 8vo. Publisher's red cloth. Lacks the dust jacket. An exlibrary copy with overall wear to the binding including corners, head/tail spine, etc. Letters "JA" inked on spine. Public library stamp and discarded note affixed to front flyleaf. A portion of a dust jacket affixed to front pastedown. The textblock is sound. While quite worn and well read, it is still a candidate for putting a designer binding on, or as a place holder until a better copy can be found. Cloth. The source of various modern cultural references in robotics the best known of which are the "Three Laws of Robotics" 1) A robot may not injure a human being, or, thorough inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2) A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law - Handbook of Robotics, 56th edition, 2058 A.D. (page [7]) The book was made into a 2004 movie starring Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, and Bruce Greenwood.
