Contains the first appearance in print (pre-book form) of this James Bond novella; with the signature of pop-artist Peter Blake on the contents page, who would later design the cover of a commemorative edition of From Russia, With Love. This periodical appearance, part of a newspaper insert, is a scarce and fragile item, many of which simply did not survive.
In the 1960s the Sunday Times Magazine invented the concept of a colour supplement and catalogued the cultural trends and realignment of the nation's image. Their colour supplement defined the genre for a generation, and this, the very first issue, featured some key names now forever linked with that decade, namely Ian Fleming (with a new Bond story), photographer David Bailey, designer Mary Quant, model Jean Shrimpton, and Peter Blake.
This copy is from the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), whose private collection of manuscripts, which span all cultures and all time periods, is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind.
Large magazine format.
