Description

Elephant Folio 23" tall; 1 pages; 1969 Scholastic Publications. A very early and very uncommon poster for Sendak's Wild Things. Issued by Scholastic to announce their pending (1st paperback) publication of Sendak's most celebrated work. This is a very large poster measuring 27 x 40 inches. Distributed to teachers and schools, it is safe to assume that most were consumed in the process of display and use. This example may have been unfolded once but remains very nearly as new in its original folded "distribution" condition. A high point in the range of Sendak posters, beacuse of its unique association with the Wild Things book, and the difficulty in finding copies in well preseved condition. 12 years handling Sendak material and I have seen no example in better condition, including several I have sold to institutions and collectors. NF to F.
