A Very Good copy in turquoise cloth, some rubbing to edges of boards, in a Good dustwrapper, price-clipped, with mild edgewear. 210pp. Publisher's promotional silver-blue and white bookplate affixed to front pastedown, SIGNED by White, who has also written in "Ko-Hoh" from the trumpet of the swan in the cartoon illustration. The bookplate has two boys' names written in, which are repeated in a gift inscription at the top of the free front endpaper, dated 1952. The Trumpet of The Swan was White's third juvenile title following Stuart Little [1945] and Charlotte's Web [1952]--and all have proven to be both popular and admired, each being adapted for cinema.
