Many of the love poems in this volume were inspired by Symons's three-year turbulent relationship with a ballet dancer, Lydia, her last name as yet unknown, and are rich with dancing imagery. Tall octavo. Original blue cloth, titles to spine in gilt, fore and bottom edges untrimmed. Title page printed in red and black. Slight rubbing to extremities, gilt a little rubbed to spine, small bubble to cloth on front cover, light offsetting to outer leaves, small spot of foxing on the limitation page, else contents clean and bright; a very good copy in notably attractive condition.
