Dead Cert by Dick Francis (author of Nerve, For Kicks, Odds Against, and Forfeit) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing London: Michael Joseph UK, 1962. 15s cover price, i.e. 15 schillings, dark red/maroon boards inside dust jacket designed by Trevor Denning. (not sure if Denning created the artwork.) The novel which began Dick Francis' spectacular career writing horse racing mysteries and began a new genre. Near Fine+ in Fine- Dust Jacket. A nearly fine book with only the typical age-toning of the pages and slight bowing out of the boards and slight tenderness to the corners, common with books produced in the UK prior to circa 1970. Clothed in one of the best original jackets I've seen for this book. NO tears and NO chips. Very tiny hint of aging, else a spectacular copy. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The pictures are of the actual item for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)
