Near fine in dust jacket in very good condition. Osgood published the first US edition in 1873 in two versions -- unillustrated and illustrated. Osgood then sold the plates and the unbound remainder of the sheets of the illustrated edition to Porter & Coates, which then republished the book in December 1876. Based on titles advertised on this copy, this copy appears to be from 1878. Housed in a cloth slipcase.

Around the World in Eighty Days is a classic adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne, first published in 1873. In the story, Phileas Fogg of London and his newly employed French valet Passepartout attempt to circumnavigate the world in 80 days on a £20,000 wager (roughly £2 million today) set by his friends at the Reform Club. It is one of Verne's most acclaimed works.
