Description

A very good copy of the first single volume edition of Mansfield Park. Newly rebound in half calf with gilt-lined raised bands, title label, author and date to spine, and marbled boards - matching the light marbling on the page edges. New endpapers. The cat bookplate of C C Waghorn has been relaid on the front pastedown endpaper. Contents: initial blank; frontispiece by Pickering and Greatbatch with tissue guard; vignette title page; volume title page; text 424 pp (laid out as 3 books); final blank. The binding is in fine condition. The contents are clean and sound. There is some browning, as usual to the frontispiece and vignette title. The tissue-guard has been replaced. There is the occasional light mark and some staining around the top edge - most obvious at pp 117-130. There is a larger mark in the top margin of 355/6 which is mirrored on 354, and gets fainter on the following pages, finally disappearing at p360. There is a small bottom edge tear on 35 which has been professionally repaired. Please enquire if you would like to see additional images.
